Mary Kate Tramontano

I was born and raised in New York City and have resided in Brooklyn my entire life. I am a recent graduate of Syracuse University with a B.S. in public relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a B.A. in policy studies from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Prior to college, I studied theatre and graduated with a CTE certification in technical theatre from LaGuardia Arts High School.

Politics

My interest in politics began when I was 7 years old and my Dad was the campaign manager for a local congressional campaign. My Dad would bring me into the office and have me make calls to constituents asking them to vote for the candidate. When election day came I was unaware of the historical significance of the night that would ultimately change my life. It was November 4th, 2008, and Barack Obama was elected the first Black President of The United States. Also elected, Congressman Michael McMahon in New York, the first Democrat to win the district in almost two decades. Getting to see the work I did at such a young age resulting in an electoral victory has piqued my political interests ever since.
